Recognizing the growing importance of streaming and other video platforms, the Smokefree Movies campaign I started in 2001 has been expanded to Smokefree Media, including a new website.
The new site contains all the information from the old Smokefree Movies site, but the searchable film database has been expanded to add streaming video programs popular with youth. You can search by title, company, year of production, and smoking/tobacco use as well as by the people who made the films, including producers, directors, actors and others. You can also download the whole database or the results of your searches to do your own analysis.
The other sections of the site (Who’s Accountable, History, Research, News, Policy Solutions, and Take Action) have all been reorganized, expanded, and made searchable.
There is also a modernized and improved menu structure that makes things easier to find.
The site also functions well on phones and tablets.
